Daniel Townsend is a guitar, drum, piano, and vocal instructor of eight years and counting. Born and raised in the Bay Area of Northern California, he began his musical journey learning piano in elementary school. After graduating, Daniel received his Associate’s degree in music, and went on to graduate from Sonoma State University with a B.A. in Jazz Studies for Guitar. Daniel was awarded the"Outstanding Musicianship Award; in recognition of musical excellence", at the 30th annual CSU East Bay Jazz Festival. Daniel was also awarded the title of "Distinguished Jazz Musician" by Dr. Douglas Leibinger, Director of Jazz studies at SSU.

Since High School, Daniel has been teaching private music lessons, gaining experience teaching all different ages and styles of music. His teaching style is based in adapting to the way others like to learn; he will tailor lessons towards your musical interests. "My approach is all about working collaboratively with student's to allow them to learn in a way that is fun, engaging, and feels natural to them. Because of this my student's abilities and appreciation of music continue to grow, and many of my students have been with me for multiple years."

Along with being an instructor, Daniel has always had a passion for live performance. From drumming in Country bands, fronting an Iron Maiden cover band as a vocalist, and playing guitar in Jazz, Rock, Progressive Metal, and Blues groups, Daniel has years of experience on stage.
