Rachel Brashear grew up in Oklahoma City and Branson, Missouri, surrounded by a family of musicians. She was raised playing fiddle, guitar, and piano with her grandfather (a member of the Western Swing Hall of Fame) and with her parents, who performed professionally throughout the midwest. She was exposed to a variety of genres and musical experiences at a young age and was performing on stage by the age of 6.
Rachel received a Bachelor’s Degree in Commercial Music from the Academy of Contemporary Music at the University of Central Oklahoma, and has been an active perfomer and teacher throughout her adult life. She has a passion for writing and performing orginal material, as well as taking on exciting projects like The Music of Twin Peaks, an all female Dolly Parton cover band, and performing standards and other varied covers with her bassist and partner in the Portland area.
Rachel brings versatility, passion, and knowledge to her teaching. She has over 15 years experience working with students of all ages and abilities. Rachel specializes in balancing technical skill and theory understanding with creativity and fun - and catering each lesson to the individual student’s abilities and goals.
